I held ever so tightly to you with a slender string in my hand,

But will no longer selfishly restrict you this close to the land.

It was wrong of me, so I shall in no way tether you or your love,

For, you my precious, darling, are meant to soar high above.

Although afraid I would lose you if you ascended in beautiful flight,

I realized to view sweet love's exquisite beauty at a lofty height

And to truly experience the magnificence of love's sweet splendor,

I must let go of this string to permit your winged passion to soar.

And if your love is meant to come again, and to me be bound,

I shall delight when you return to me here waiting upon the ground.

Then, in concert, the two of us shall take off and soar together,

To eternally fly high above the clouds, forever free of any tether.
