This is the fourth installment of my I Wish you Knew short story series. This is the most stunning chapter. I hear something I don't want to hear, I figure out what my "friends" are all about, and the mystery is still yet to be solved. It is still a huge question in my life.

The following weeks brought Nick's text messages and facebook chat's. One day we texted for 4 hours straight! I kept him updated on all the latest happenings like when I saw a tornado come out of a cloud and we had some bad weather. He said that if I died he would be so sad. I also told him about the major flooding we had. Nick also told me that he had something to ask me when he got back. He always made hints that he liked me! Before I get any further I must tell you that the rumor was that if Nick was too shy to ask me out in the summer, he was going to do it in the fall after school began.

June came and went and it was already July. It was two days before Independence Day and I had gotten a call from Sage. Her and Nick were back for a few days and the girls wanted me to hangout. I excitedly agreed and went to their house. The girls met me out front and we started walking to the park. It was a great summer night. Fireworks popping everywhere, the smell of the barbeques, but it all came to a crashing end. Sage put her arm around me and told me some disturbing news...

"Sophie...Nick likes someone else. I told him to not dis on my Sohpie!!"

My heart felt like it fell through my body, I got that feeling of a quivering lump in your throat when you are about to cry. My world went black and I had tons of mixed feelings.

I felt betrayed, hurt, angry, and embarassed.

"Oh," was all I was able to get out of my mouth.

Then after that they never told me who. They started on with their laughing and smiles like nothing ever happened. I didn't know if I could believe this news or not. The girl's were starting to become little backstabbers. Everything always seemed so fake and played. Even before I got the news they were always telling me how Nick was such a loser and and a jerk. They also told me how much they hated him. My cousin Morgan even said he takes his shirt off in front of her. They made Nick sound like the worst human on Earth, but all I saw was good in Nick. Besides this wasn't the first time Morgan and the rest of the girls have lied to me.

After going to the park we went back into Sage's house before I went home. Nick was on the couch and out of the corner of my eye I saw him look over , kind of sigh, and turn around. I didn't know what to believe! Nick did not look happy at all. When I got home that night, I cried and cried.

That weekend I was pretty depressed but I tried to make the most out of my fourth of July holiday. Thenon that MondayI saw Nick on his bike. I waved and he had the biggest smile on his face. I sent him a text message telling him I just saw him and after that he kept texting back asking where I was at. It was like a cute game of cat and mouse. He told me that he had been at the pool waiting for some friends but they never showed up. I texted back in a flirty way saying that I should've went and I considered it. He texted back saying that I should've went. I texted him back asking if he was going back and he said yes. I took the chance and texted back asking what time. I got no response.

I got home and I waited outside for a minute and what do you know? Here comes Nick down the street on his bike! I waved and he pulled up on the sidewalk. It was like a knight on his horse! I told him that I was going to the pool later. He said that he probably would go too and he might see me there. Nick kept shyly looking down at his bike and fiddling with the handles. We talked for another minute then he said he had to get home and he went on his way. I almost had a panic attack when I got in the door. I was struck by his hotness, but one thing I still couldn't figure out was if he was seeing someone else? Anyways I went and put on my swimsuit and I went to the pool. I waited there for an hour an even texted him telling him I was there, but he never showed up. They went back to their mom's a few days later. I still had questions , but no answers. Would things change in the fall? Look forward to I Wish you Knew - Chapter 5: Waiting. In the meantime leave your comments below as to who you think is at fault here? Is Nick really seeing someone else? Are the girls lying? Leave your opinion below!
