There was a secret society of dogs who called themselves Howler Pack X. For centuries they dreamed of a world without cats and where humans were their slaves. The dogs quietly spread this dream and searched for the power to make it so. That day came when they uncovered the Ark of the Covenant. The dogs used the Sands of Time inside the Ark to tear a hole in the fabric of spacetime. In this alternate dimension they traveled to its past and began plans to breed a massive invasion force. Now instantly back in that dimensions present an overwhelming force of dogs was trained and ready to jump via portals into earth realm, destroy the cats and bend humans to their will.
The cats have long known about the dogs deceitful ways and had a secret society of their own known as Meowzer Squad Plus. The society was only to go public during an Omega level threat. Now was that time.
As the humans planet wide were locked in a heated battle with countless loads of dogs pouring through portals strategically opened across the earth. The cats knew this was a lost cause, the real way to end the threat lies in the power of the Ark. But where?! Where did the dogs stash their time powers? The finest tech wizards of the cat community poured over data and field reports from their scouts. It didn't take long for the Siamese cats to determine there was a third reality. The dogs opened a second dimension outside of time where they built a massive complex to house the Ark. It also served as the headquarters for the Howlers high command.
The Holy Trinity of Meowzers planned one desperate hail mary assault on the Howlers main Citadel. Failure was not an option, the cats knew they needed to reset the time stream and thwart the dogs or all would be lost.
Once through the portal the Howlers complex was surrounded by lesser towers and fortifications. All leading down a great hall to the main courtyard at the Citadels front door. The Tribunal placed Colonel Chester McWesterton in overall command of allied forces. Chester was already a highly respected and seasoned veteran in the cat community and the clear choice to lead the Meowzers in their darkest hour.
When the surprise attack began all was going according to plan. Several of the outposts and lesser towers fell to the cats and Chesters iron paw. But as the Meowzers made it to the great hall their advantage of surprise was gone and the dogs found their footing. Chester determined that the dogs may have purposely made a tactical retreat to lure them in deeper and test their might. He was right, a large reinforcement emerged from the Citadel and was making its way across the courtyard as the dogs reformed their lines. Chester ordered his personal elite squad of brutes to form an arrow at the front of the column and drive a wedge in the dogs forces.
The brutes were mostly Norwegian Forests and Maine Coons hand picked by Chester himself. But as they pressed through the great hall and made the courtyard, reports of heavy casualties were coming in from the field. Ground was being made but at what cost? Chester knew there was no turning back, this was win or die trying.
The Meowzers couldn't survive crossing the courtyard not unless some of the Howlers were drawn off. Chester called for a crazy young punk, Captain Mick Westmoreland. He ordered Mick to assemble a small, fast strike team to circumvent the battle, flank the enemy and attack from the other side. Mick's team of stealth ninjas were mostly Bombays and American Shorthairs.
While the battle raged on in the courtyard Mick and his ninjas were sneaking through the sewer system but there was no exit at the far side of the yard. So further down they found themselves inside the Citadel. Mick radioed back that he found a way inside that wouldn't involve fighting through the front door. Chester told him if he diverts any extra troops in the sewers, the line wont hold and the dogs will discover they've been compromised. He ordered Mick to press on and capture the Ark. Mick took his cats into the air ducts searching the facility.
Chester sent a scout back through the portal to mans world to give the Holy Trinity their current status. He also requested permission to break the rules of war in order to win by any means necessary. The Tribunal knew from the scouts account that victory through conventional arms was no longer viable, indeed extreme measures were needed.
Back in the Citadel Mick found the Ark chamber and Chester ordered them to engage the Howlers high command. Mick radioed back that it was suicide and Chester firmly reminded him that he knew what he signed up for. "An don't worry," Chester said, "I have insurance on the way." Mick blew the vents and before the smoke cleared they were pouring the heat on. The Howlers in shock spun around unprepared for the assault from within. An alarm sounded and waves of dogs abandoned the front as Chester expected. The dogs thinking this was another tactical retreat to lure what was left of the cats deeper into the compound would end up being their undoing.
With the Howlers front lines thinned and falling back Chesters dwindling main force pushed through the doors and into the Citadel. He radioed Mick and told him, "You’re about to get some company." The non response made Chester wonder if Mick's troops were destroyed. He refused to believe that and again radioed, "Hold on! We need to squeeze and last a bit longer." The dogs now balled up in the Ark chamber with a lesser number of cats surrounding them screamed a rally cry. Chester warned them to stand down or be destroyed. The Howlers laughed and said, "Even if you defeat us here its too late for earth." Chester knew this wasn't true. He could use the Ark to reset the timestream. What did the Howlers know that he didn't?
The scout returned at the perfect moment and said, "Colonel the weapon is here." Chester immediately replied, "Deliver the package." At his command troopers rolled a huge ball with a short fuse into the chamber near the far wall by the vents Mick had blown open earlier. The dogs cried, "Nooooooo!!!!!" But there was no stopping it, the glitter bomb packed with beef jerky exploded, consuming the Citadel. All the Howlers were instantly driven insane rolling through the glitter and fighting themselves over the jerky.
With the dogs collected force in disarray and the distraction complete, the Meowzers approached the Ark. Was this what the dogs spoke of? A large force shield blocking any way of touching it. Chester called up the Siamese scientists who studied the shield. After a brief moment they proclaimed, "It's somehow distorting reality. It's blending multiple dimensions together putting the Ark in a state of Limbo where no one can touch it." Chester said he needed to interrogate one of the captured Howlers. Then suddenly another scout came running in out of breath babbling about a death ray.
The Howler brought before the Colonel was a wild eyed loon calling herself Moose Carpenter. She said, "The death ray is our fail safe. If you captured control of the Ark we would shoot a hyper sonic beam through a wormhole and give the planet one global earthquake that would reverberate across time. The earth wouldn't exist, past, present or future." "You're mad," Chester said. "If we cant have it all, you wont have anything," replied Moose. The scout said, "The countdown was already initiated and the control panel was smashed." One of the Siamese techs discovered the shield was tied to the ray. "When the death ray fires it closes the Limbo pocket losing the Ark forever."
Chester divided what was left of the Meowzer troop and ordered Captain Mick to take two thirds of the army out the back and up the hill to destroy the death ray before the clock runs out.
Suddenly a large digital map appeared. The tech wizards said its some sort of puzzle lock. It showed the milky way and all its constellations highlighted but they were badly mixed out of order. Moose laughed saying, "It's impossible to solve. Only a 12th level intellect could possibly figure out the order of the celestial code." Chester snapped back saying, "Than Im over qualified." He assembled the constellations in their proper order but the lock didnt open. Hmmmmm why? Mick radioed that an unknown force of Howlers who were clear of the glitter bomb have attacked in defense of the death ray. Chester frustrated yelled, "I dont care get it done!"
Mick knowing all of reality and time was on the line gathered what was left of their heavy ordnance. He broke his troops in half making two small skirmish forces. Ordering one half to stay and trench in. "Lob all the heavies," he said, "make them last we need a stand off." The rest went with him retreating down the road out of view then around to a near by cliff to the side. Mick and the ninjas began free climbing with their claws up the embankment to reach the spire which housed the sonic death ray. At the summit they cautiously looked around for dogs, then pulled themselves over. Once inside Mick said, "Find the main power hub and severe its connection. This thing is generating a lot of energy and its gotta come from somewhere."
Back in the Ark chamber Chester and the scientists were hitting a wall with the puzzle lock. In what way could they possibly need to be arranged? The Colonel knew time was running out. He ordered all remaining hands to strip the facility and find any information or something of use. One of the fallen Howlers covered in glitter and fast asleep from jerky had a flash drive detailing the shields code in. Unfortunately the files were encrypted and would need time to crack, time they didn't have. The Tribunal got word in that the humans have all but fallen to the howlers horde and they asked out of desperation for a status report. Chester said, "They’ll find out soon enough when they're dead or the timeline ends."
Meanwhile Mick and his strike force trashed the main power coupler but the energy rerouted and continued the countdown. They pulled fuses and shredded wiring but no matter what blew and threw sparks the power would always reroute and continue towards doomsday. In a frenzy they continued to break what they could not knowing what else to do. Mick called Chester saying, "You better hurry up this machine appears unstoppable."
With the encryption freshly cracked an automated voice called out, "Self destruct in 15, 14, 13,..." Chester quickly started punching in the sequence of constellations, "9, 8, 7,..." not only in the right place but in the order they were discovered. "4, 3,..." The shield collapsed and Chester shattered the Ark in a panicked last-ditch effort to stop the clock.
A blinding white light consumed the pocket dimension and flowed through the portals. They found themselves falling through oblivion. The vertigo was unbearable and right upon passing out they awoke again. Magically home right where they were before it all began. The timeline restored and the humans clueless to what transpired. In fact no one remembered what happened outside a select few who were awake and present at the source of the reset.
The Meowzer Squad Plus defeated the Howler Pack X and saved not only themselves but humans and all reality. The dogs were returned to their place and all was right in the world. After some rest and a little time to process what they went through, several of the cats, including Chester had dreams of the white light. A large hand with a swirling galaxy in its palm, closing into a fist. What does that mean? Chester thanked Mick for his service and said he trusted to call on him again if the situation required it. Before they parted ways Chester asked, "How much time was on the clock when I smashed the Ark?" Mick replied, "Two tenths of a second."
The only reason Im able to tell this story is because two of the cats present shared it with me. An now Im sharing it with you. Next time you see a cat thank them for saving your life and all your loved ones. The Meowzers deserve some recognition.
