This is a poem that my mom wrote about my father. Since I posted my own thoughts and feelings in my short story called The Center, she wanted me to post this for her, so that her thoughts and feelings were out there. My father died November 1st 2006.

We Wonder

Touch me with your memory Hold me with my thoughts

Never leave, although you’re gone Those ashes all the winds have caught

Your going left me aching and hollow in some way

I know there will be answers to my questions some fine day

For now I find more tears than I could ever count

And wonder often where to go to find those answers out

I continue thru this emptiness knowing time will help

To hold, confine, and harness the empty days I’ve felt

Till time will build the distance that lets me look for you

In all your favorite places and all the love we knew

I wonder what will be that final answer that we'll find

Or will it just leave instead more questions left behind

All I know is that our family will always be with you

And you will live forever because of things we knew
