Fighting the life-long urge

To just have that one quick fix

Time to severely transfix

The addiction trying to emerge

Staying strong until the very end

Resisting the screaming in your head

Not allowing yourself to depend

As withdrawal comes; you dread

You want to run from the stress and pain

You want your joyous easy escape

As you are trying to quickly abstain

While your life is trying to reshape

The people who care are standing by your side

Proud of you for fighting so so hard

I will not watch you let down your guard

The compassion in us will be your guide
