Mother, why would you do it?

The doctor brought this up in your conversation,
And you said yes out of desperation.

I’m living inside you and know what goes on the outside,
No matter how hard I kick you don’t listen,
You sigh and put the feelings of love and guilt aside.

Choose from any other choices besides this I plead,
There’s adoption, your parents, even military is a choice.
A life with me will help you rejoice,
But killing me wouldn’t be such a glamorous life with me.

Think of the things I could do mom,
If you’d let me live outside this space.
I could be the next Picasso, Einstein, even Elvis.
If you’d let me live you’d have tears down your face,
From the joy of my success oh it’ll send your heart a flutter.

It doesn’t matter if the condom broke,
Or your pull was one day late.
Consequences should be accepted,
For not waiting until the third date,
But you still did it anyways with some random bloke.

I’m not mad that I was made,
I’m only upset about this choice you’re deciding.
It’s apparent you’re going with the choice of me dying,
So, like a flashlight dying, I will fade.

I wish you actually got to know me,
That you’d listen to your parents,
And just let it be.

Too bad you only saw me in a sonogram,
Due to your heart it’s no wonder father decided to scram.

I guess mother this is my final goodbye.
