Sash and I were pressed up against each other in her room, again. Why did none of this ever happen in my room? It just didn’t, I guess.
I kissed her for the fifth time, my hands wrapped around her neck, hers around my waist. I felt like I couldn’t get close enough to her, though. It was only two days away from when I would die, and I wanted to remember every moment of them, either being pressed up against Sash, or fighting for my life.
We broke apart eventually, to catch our breath. Sash looked me in the eye. She knew I was planning to kiss her again, I could tell. “Are you going for the sixth time lucky thing you were going on about? A kiss for every time that you dreamt you lost me, and an extra one for good measure, right?”
“No, I’ve decided that I’m going to kiss you 7 times before I die. I’ve kissed you five times.”
“Seven times? Why seven times?”
“Because Tia said seven is your lucky number. Mine’s four, but I’d prefer to kiss you more, not less.”
Sash pushed her head into my chest. “Thank you, Charlie, that’s very sweet of you.”
I was leaning in to kiss her again when the door seemed to blow open. I narrowed my eyes. Matt. Wait, Matt was alive. Sash’s eyes were wider open than I thought humanly possible. Matt smiled.
“Hello, Charlie,” he hissed. “And, Sash, you’re just the person I was hoping to run into.”
“It’s my room freak, who were you expecting to run into?” Sash hissed back.
“I’m not a freak; I’m just in the mood for some company. Oh, and Charlie, I believe it’s my turn.” Matt went to grab Sash’s arm but I stepped in front of him, grabbing his arm and twisting it to the side. Sash took a few more steps backwards, hitting her back against the wall and breathing hard. She was scared. Matt was supposed to be dead.
“Lay one finger on her, freak, and you’ll start beginning to wonder why you didn’t choose to die the first time it was offered to you.” I hissed at him. I let go of his arm, pushing him backwards. He hit the wall, and hard.
“Then kill me now, Charlie.” Matt said, with his left leg twisted awkwardly to the side, and his nose bleeding and broken.
“Why should he?” Sash stepped out from behind me.
“Because I’m really bad at being good.” Matt replied, sadly.
“Why would you want to be good, Matt? You know you’re completely evil, especially after what you did to Sash and Tia.”
“I’m sorry about that, honestly.” Matt pleaded.
“So what do you want, then? Why are you here, Matt?” I gave him a long, ice cold stare. Who did he think he was, barging into Sash’s room as if it were his own, and then attempting to kiss her again? And, overall, who did he think he was trying it in front of me? I was her boyfriend for peats sake! Well, at least I think I was her boyfriend. But still! Honestly, how could anybody get along with him?
“Because I shouldn’t be here,” Matt said.
“No, you shouldn’t be.” Sash hissed.
“That’s not what I mean, Sash. I mean I shouldn’t be alive.”
“No you shouldn’t be.” Sash hissed again.
“I was trying to get Charlie angry enough to kill me, Sash. I want to be up there,” he said, pointing to the ceiling. “With Lora,” he added quietly.
“I’m honestly supposed to believe that you like Lora?” I gasped.
“Charlie, you should probably leave this to me.” Sash said. I looked at her and nodded. This was probably not the sort of argument an Anti-Lora person like me should get into. I still stood in front of Sash though; I wouldn’t let her get any closer to Matt. To risky.
“I’m trying to be not so evil so I can be Lora’s boyfriend again.” Matt explained. Sash looked at me, as confused as I was.
“Lora was your girlfriend?” Sash gasped. I couldn’t believe it.
“And now she hates me.” Matt sighed. Now that, I could believe. Lora was not exactly the easiest person to get along with from my point of view.
Wait; make that from anybody’s point of view.
“No,” Sash said firmly. “Charlie, nor I, will kill you. You’d just wreak havoc up there. We’re going too, you know.”
“Leave,” I hissed. “Now.”
So, he did something that was so unlike him. Without saying another word, Matt just turned, and left.
