This is about my grandfather. The tone is a lot lighter than the stuff I usually write, but I hope my readers will enjoy it.

Dear Father Christmas,

What are you doing?

Are you raking your fingers,

Through your snow white beard?

Are you laughing a hearty laugh,

As you watch your horses gallop through the clouds?

Are you preparing a magnificent dinner,

So it will be ready when we join you?

Dear Father Christmas,

Can you see me now?

I ask you, please,

What do you see?

Do you see a boy or a man?

Do you look upon me with pride?

Have I honored your memory?

Have I done right by you?

Have I learned to love and live,

Like you once did?

Dear Father Christmas,

I miss your broad, glowing smile.

I miss the way your powerful arms hugged me,

As I departed for home.

I will always love you, Granddad,

Always and forever.

I will make you proud,

To call me your grandchild.
