Just something random that I wrote that was supposed to be a part of a bigger project but never was. Yet still I love this one scene.

Scene One: Red Shirts

EXT. SMALL CITY STREET-MORNING

Kids by MGMT starts to play.

It's raining outside.  Large raindrops plummet from the sky hitting the ground where people run around with umbrellas.  Everything is dark blue, black and gray as they move about their everyday  lives.  Yet there is a young woman standing on a corner with a bright red umbrealla looking around constantly.  She is waiting for somebody, her lover.

MAX (VO): Every girl--almost every girl--has the dream of a romantic kiss in the rain with her soul mate.

A man in a red shirt is walking down the sidewalk frantically pushing through the crowd looking at each woman he comes across before pushing her away.  He too is looking for a lover.  Suddenly, he stops and looks forward meeting the eyes of the women with the red umbrella.  She takes two steps forwad staring striaght into his eyes.  This is love.

MAX (VO): Lucky me.  I'm one of the few girls who got their romantic wish.

The camera only focuses on the couple.  Everything else that is going on is drowned out.  The two race toward each other, they haven't seen each other in a long time.  Both move gracefully in slow motion as the crowd seems to part for them.

SONG: THE WATER IS WARM, BUT IT'S SENDING ME SHIVERS.

Both meet under the red umbrella embracing each other while passionatly kissing.

SONG: A BABY IS BORN, CRYING OUT FOR ATTENTION, THE MEMORIES FADE LIKE LOOKING THROUGH A FOG, DECESIONS TO DECESIONS ARE MADE, AND NOT BOUGHT, BUT I THOUGHT THIS WOULDN'T HURT A LOT I GUESS NOT

The couple are still embracing each other while kissing.  The scene becomes more clear: But for the first time we notice that they are standing in the middle of a one way street with a flashing yellow hand light in the background.

Beside the light is a thin, petite girl just standing in the rain.  She's twenty-three and her hair is sopping wet and hangs in strings all around her face.  She's nothing like the perfect women with the red umbrella.  Also she's very nerdy looking with a blue superman shirt and bright red pants.  She even has old sneakers that are held together by rainbow duct tape.

MAX (VO): Yeah.  Ok.  You got me.  I'm not the one with the umbrella.

Scene pauses.  Arrow points to that girl.

MAX (VO): Tha'ts me.  Max Holden.

Scene continues.  The couple is still kissing very passionatly.

MAX (VO): A hopeless romantic nerd who'll never have that [refering to couple kissing].  But that's ok because I know something that they don't

Max looks up at the traffic lights.  The yellow hand stops flashing and the other light for cars changes to green.

MAX (VO): The people in the red shirts always die.

A car flies forward only hitting the man in the red shirt and the car continues.  The woman falls to her knees sobbing over the man, who is now dead.  Max starts to walk by them stepping over the dead man in the red shirt while chuckling to herself.

MAX (VO): Thank God I'm only wearing red pants today or else I would be scrwed.  Metaphorically.  Of course.

Cut to: same scene right when the light turns green.

A car flies forward slamming on its brakes almost hitting the man.  Finally, the couple actually stops kissing and run onto the sidewalk where they continue to kiss again.  Max walks away from them crossing the little street while trying to avoid looking at them at all costs.

MAX (VO): Yeah...too bad that only happens in Star Trek.

She looks out over her shoulder at the sill kissing couple.

KID (shouts): Watch out!

A baseball his the man in the head knocking him unconcious.  Max stops and laughs.

MAX (VO): Ha maybe it still brings bad luck.

Max turns around and continues to walk away from the woman and the unconcious man.  She gradually blens ind with a large crowd of people as the rain starts to lighten up a bit.
