I was watching TV one night and this thought popped in my head.

So, everyone sat eyes glazed, watching

till their hair grew grey or just fell out.

Their teeth began to decay and was replaced by porcelain

or not replaced at all.

Still they sat watching.

Why you might ask?

Were they afraid to stop or maybe just walk away?

Perhaps they were in a trance and could not.

Perhaps they longed for things they could not do or have

or maybe they were too scared or it made them glad.

Perhaps it allowed them to forget

for a moment, an hour, a day.

Maybe it gave them something to look forward to

or it just made things okay.

What do you watch?  What do I?

How long and where and why?

I guess it doesn't matter

I'll watch till the day I die.
