Billy's mummy had bought three garden ornaments, and had put them on the window ledge in the kitchen. There was a fat dog with long ears, a red toadstool with two frogs sitting on top, and a brown goose with an orange beak.  Billy always had his drawing book and his pen shaped like a boomerang near him, because he was always looking for something to draw.

He saw the three garden ornaments and wanted to draw them so he asked his mummy if he could take them down from the window ledge and put them on the floor in the living-room so that he could draw them.  His mummy said that he could, and gave him the fat dog with long ears, the red toadstool with two frogs sitting on top and the brown goose with an orange beak.

Billy carefully took them through to the living-room and put them on the carpet.  He then turned to a clean page on his drawing book and began to draw.  He drew each garden ornament carefully then coloured them in.  He had just finished and stood up to admire his work when the fat dog, the red toadstool with the two frogs sitting on top and the brown goose with the orange beak, came alive and jumped from the page.

The fat dog sat on the carpet and began to scratch itself, then it got up and was sniffing at things in the living-room.  The frogs that had been sitting on top of the red toadstool had jumped down, now they were jumping all over the place.  The brown goose with the orange beak, was waddling about and making a terrible noise.  Billy was sure his mummy would come in to the living-room to see who was making all the noise.

The fat dog started to bark, and the two frogs started to croak at the top off their voices.  Billy had to stop them.  He pointed the pen at the fat dog, the two frogs, the goose, and also the red toadstool, then he pointed to the drawing book, and with a little flash of light all the paper garden ornaments went back on the page.

Billy picked up the real ornaments and carried them back through to the kitchen.  His mummy asked him if he had,had a nice time drawing, and he said, 'yes'.  He was glad that his mummy had not heard all the noise in the living-room.  Maybe he was the only one who heard the fat dog barking, the frogs croaking and the goose making a terrible noise.  The Magical Pen shaped like a boomerang, and his drawing book was put away in his toy cupboard for another day.
