A fallen leaf

Functioning, yet lifeless

Pointless and vulnerable

Fleetingly and sporadically kindled to a life it never knew

by an unknowing breeze

Temperamental, gentle and destructive

as only air can be

How I wish that breeze would carry me away

but it is my fate to fall back to earth
