Stranger Beware

Stranger Beware
The city lies ahead of you
The stones make it big and hard
And the people make it difficult
If you're a calendar girl
You will be like June in a cold January night
If you're a circus tramp
Don't be afraid
You have nothing to lose
The city lies ahead
History is the future and the future is blue
Justice sleeps and poets have no voice
Crime shows your true face
And charity puts you in the background
The tickets to the sewers cost your life
But food only costs a dollar
This is the city you are about to enter
Stranger Beware
