In the Heart of October

Twirp and a Chirp

Go the birds in the trees

Up high in the nests

Where the branches crackle

Under tiny tender feet

In the heart of October

Whoosh and a creak

Goes the wind in the trees

Leaves rustle under

Cold autumn air

That whispers by

In the heart of October

Crack and a thump

Is the noise in the crisp air

 Under padded feet

With a break of a twig

 Over frost tipped ground

In the Heart of October

Gurgle and a trickle

 Is the water going

 Over and around rocks

With a crash and ice

At the edge of the water

In the Heart of October

Chitter and a chatter

Goes the noise of the wood

Getting ready for the

Cold hard winter

That is sure to come

In the heart of October
