The junkie and the bluebird

Poor old junkie at the edge of the curb

With the traffic flooding by

This old addict can’t tell the time nor can read the paper, cry

All he can do is to hold his beads, and to wait for the other side

Bluebird signing as he pines threw the night until he fades outside

Poor old junkie at the edge of the curb with the moon light in his eyes

As the winter dawn staggers up once more with the bus driver shouting, cried

Bluebird lying at the edge of the road, gone to the other side

Junkie and bird together now to spend forever in the sky

so that’s the tale of the junkie and the bird

And now we say good bye

Junkie and bird together now with sunlight in their eyes
