A fox struggled through the forest.

He looked lost.

Skinny, worn, he drags himself.

Some predator has chased him.

See him lift his head.

He turns back.

Stare with confusion.

He vanishes into a cave.

He tells me to leave.

Stare at the darkness, realizing

It's simply what he knows.

Walk backward, stumbling for words.

The sounds of bones cracking echoes through the darkness.

A willing victim.

Self-sacrifice, and for what?
