You were blatantly a chest wound
left screaming scarlet ice between us
between my eyes and the hard lines
that always caught you short, if nothing less
the telephone wires all tangled with your veins
a sacrilegious martyr, a slaughter at your name
we'd find ourselves in cheap hotels drawing faces in the mirror
you left my heart a bleeding sore
you left my heart
you left my heart

the massacre you left me in is nothing less than murder
your name still feels like wax to me
more hollow than an emergency room
I feel so cold
you left me cold

The sound of your breath cracks on my ribs
in my mouth and in my lungs
its not a secret you won't keep
it's one you never owned
the lacerations on my throat
are pixelated scars
you left them in your wake
and from my lips you'll read my tongue
there at the hospital bed you set on fire
you left my heart a bleeding sore
my heart
a bleeding
sore

the massacre you left me in is nothing less than murder
your name still feels like wax to me
more hollow than an emergency room
I feel so cold
you left me cold

for every song you plucked out on my veins
there's a bullet through my hands
there's nothing left for lungs
the vacant sterile room
has kept my mouth an open wound
and I know you are this way
someday, the ledge outside your favorite window pane
found a new way to make it to your sight
you left my heart a bleeding sore

the massacre you left me in is nothing less than murder
your name still feels like wax to me
more hollow than an emergency room
I feel so cold
you left me cold
