She has kept it bottled up,

for such a long time now,

since the age of fourteen,

only God knows how.

She has put up and shut up,

taken the crap,

him going on about cheque books where she hasn't filled out the tabs.

He taunted and ruled every part of her brain,

then when he had finished he would do it again.

She raised all their kids,

kept his house clean,

a meal on the table,

his life was serine.

She asks for little,

dreams alot,

all those dreams,

still not got.

She should have left him long ago,

packed his bags,

just said go,

but she was too scared of the unknown,

so she stayed,

put up and kept hearing him moan.

A glass of red then the sentence is said,

he smirks as if it's a joke,

"your mum could very easily be an alcoholic you know",

"fuck off dad, what the fuck do you know?"

I see it i him then,

that evil streak,

the way he uses his power,

his put downs and his horrid jokes,

put up with hour after hour.

It's quiet around the table,

thw whole family is there,

this is not a normal family affair.

Is awkward and acted out like a play,

an act of a family just for a day,

but nobody speaks,

if they do it's to pass time,

seems really strange this family of mine.
