This is a poem about trying to pick up the pieces of your life or emotions after a loss of some sort. It is about the fact that in the long run, things will be okay and we'll get everything back together, but often times we will still feel something is missing.

I fell all to pieces when you went away

But puzzles get put back so I'll be okay.

That's what we’re made for...to break and then mend

Time.

Perseverance.

Patience.

Friends.

They rack at their brains, they ponder the mess

Slowly.

Surely.

It just takes finesse

Pick up each piece.

Carefully,

Place.

Gently,

Fit.

One little bump,

But you know how I go this time.

Right?

Quickly,

Before you forget.

Little by little, I soon reappear

Delicacy forgotten as progress calms fear.

Anxious. Excited.

Just a few little holes, I am almost in order.

Five four,Three.

Two...

and a quarter?

Two is in pieces.  One is not there.

So close but still broken...it just isn't fair.

What is it they say about Humpty's great fall?

He tumbled so hard off that mass of a wall.

Foolish it was, though try did they still,

But all the king's men, exhausted their skill,

Finally they looked up, their eyes said it all.

"Humpty, we tried, but too far was your fall."

This time. Friends.

It was a mass of a wall.

This time, my friends,

Too far was my fall.

You tried, you repaired.

Sometimes I forget that One is not there.

Sometimes?.

Whether holes of the past or scattered anew

I'll fall back to pieces, as all puzzles do.

I fell all to pieces when you went away

But puzzles get put back, so I'll be okay.
