You were the Thing
I had refused to believe in;
Black rock and sea shimmer
Memorising particular tides
Beneath your skin;
Washing up daily

Your blue eyed regret
At being a good man.

Time has already rolled out
Its appropriate landscapes.
beneath its blindfold
The heart sure
Of every ravine,
The head braced
For all that the sun lights up;
As though we were more
Than footfall
Along this edge
We can never fully navigate.
As though unfailingly
Every hour will birth the next.
