It was a dark, misty night. Annalise stepped out of the night club, it felt like when the exotic music stopped her pulse quickened.  It was windy. As if suddenly materializing a heart shaped locket blew across her neck - almost strangling her. There was an image of an ugly man - gazing at the camera as if hypnotized by her beauty.

Annalise threw it hard into the damp gutter, picking up her pace. Heavy footsteps could be heard. She knew she was being followed. She started running until she felt a cold hand grab her neck. She blinked hard to try to wake up from her nightmare.

It was the man from the locket, yet looking even uglier. Annalise noticed his image: he had thin, grey, long and greasy hair; eyes that had an evil hint of red; a face as crusty and burnt toast; and pale as if someone left in the cold for too long.
“What do you want?” Annalise bellowed bravely.
“Well...” He began, but was interrupted.
“I remember you.” She whispered, peering at him from the corner of her beautiful, green eyes. “You were my mother’s ex husband. Tough luck, she’s dead.”
The man buried his head in his hands, tearfully.
“When? Why?” He queried.
“She never even loved you so stop worrying!” Annalise laughed.
The old man took a step back. The feeling is indescribable. Being told to be unloved by the only one that matters is like you heart is being ripped out viciously. He felt a lump appear in his throat - forever to remind him of his heart break.

Annalise walked off - leaving the man in despair. He struggled to think, sitting there for hours. It was valentines day tomorrow, he thought to himself. People would be skipping around together carrying roses in addition towards their love. He sighed, yet again, at the thought of being lonely again for another year. At the time of dawn he smiled, at his own horrible plan.

People could now be seen together as it was the date the heartless man most hated, valentines day. There was music being played and rose stalls about. It was an atmosphere that wouldn’t last long. From the corner of his grey eyes he could see Annalise and her love: he had thick golden brown hair shining and almost like caramel. He was taller than her, and was carrying and red rose. People walking by stopped walking. Annalise screamed. There was a metal dagger in her valentine’s neck. Her heart was being ripped out, stambled on, and then cut up.

“You! Old man ! Help me, please!” She shrieked.
“No,” He replied, watching motionlessly.
“Did you see who did it?” Annalise cried, crouching down.
“Obviously, it was me.”
The young girl stopped...taking her breath in.
“And you’re next.” He continued.

Annalise dropped her lover’s body and started to sprint. She was asthmatic, and when she ran it felt like there was constant smoke in her lungs and stitches like giant staplers that always reformed itself. Thoughts puzzled her, what had she done wrong? Her medical condition caused her to stop.
“You’ve come to the end of the road.” The mad man sneered.
“I don’t understand. What have I done wrong? I don’t even know you!” Annalise yelled breathlessly.
“I loved your mother and now she’s dead.”
“What has that got to do with me?”
“Everything...I killed her!” He admitted gracefully. “It started off at a party when she fell in love with my best friend. My everything had been taken away. I was so furious I had to murder them both to feel better but it didn’t help.”
“You broke your heart and mine, what more do you want?”
The old man thought about this. “I want a valentine, I’m too lonely.”
Annalise laughed.
“No wonder why, you’re a loner, you murdered your wife and you’re ugly.”

The events taken place after were not recalled until months later. A fisherman was the first to see the image of two people:  an old, ugly man with a dagger pierced in his lonely heart; the other was a young teenager with a heart locket wrapped around her neck. She was clutching her heart tightly like although she was in heaven her heart was still beating in pace with her lover. Some people do strange things when they’re in love - whether they’re alive or not their love will flow on forever.
The End
