- First Born Son -

Into my life came this bundle of joy,
my first-born son, such a beautiful boy.

The day he was born I was not there to see,
for my first-born son had not come from me.

He was still just a baby on the first day we met,
he was too young to remember, but I'll never forget.

The first time I held him, I smiled but was scared,
I was so young at the time! I was so un-prepared!

On that day we first met, I made a promise to keep,
I would feed him and cloth him, at night sing him to sleep.

I tried to do all the right things, the things a father should do,
I had so much to learn, for me this was new.

We played airplane, and bouncy, I would tickle his feet,
And when no one was looking…I'd sneak him ice cream to eat.

We would lay on the couch when the time came to rest,
I would lay on my back while he slept curled on my chest.

So much time spent together…how fast! time would go,
while inside something special, something special continued to grow.

Trough the years spent together, in each other we see,
who I am to him, and who he is to me.

My son is much older now (almost an adult) No secrets were kept
yet we both know without doubt… I am his Father! He is my Son!
And it has always been this way…it's been this way from day one!
