it was exciting, the way we would sneak away from the families we had created.  hotels, parking lots, playgrounds (at night of course).  it was like being a teenager again; only much more dangerous.  if he ever found out, i'd be done for.

but being with you made me done for.  i was lost in a sea of auburn hair and soft skin and lovely cleaveage.  i was afraid to touch you the first time.  like it would make everything...real.  you would be real if i felt you, if i acknowledged you breathing beside me.  and if you were real, then you could hurt.  you could hurt me.  and i could hurt you. and the pain would make sense.  but i didn't think of it like that at the time.  who ever thinks of the pain in the beginning?

his face flashed in my eyes as i drifted off to sleep.  there was no vacancy here.  there was no room for error.  i didn't intend to cause him pain.  i intended to love you.

every day without you became a blur.  the nights with you felt like deep depressions in the earth; slowly i traveled toward the cavernous indentations that were your hips and thighs.  with you i felt free.  the way you bent into me, the way we fit together, it wasn't something i'd anticipated. i'd only known the hard caress of a man.  the deep, penetrating love between he and i.  but with you, it was so sweet, so gentle, so easy.  it was so right.

and it wasn't just your body, the beautiful shell of you...it was the smiles, the long, hard glances across the bed.  it was the finger trails on skin, the silently wonderful escaping of breath.  it was everything about you.  i was falling slowly, deliciously down into a place i'd never even imagined.  a place where i could fully, completely love a woman.
