Dero clutched at the metal bars of his cell, nausea making a boulder of nothing fill his belly. He slowly lifted his head so that the blood thirsty crowd may drink in his features. Out of his peripheral he saw Crap sitting with his elbows on his knees, fingers locked and supporting his head. Flux restlessly and anxiously paced his cell, being driven up a wall by confinement.
Dero curled his upper lip at the noisy crowd as they gave cries of elation as three noses were thrown over the gallows. May you rot in hell he thought with such venom that a man who happen to glace at Dero grew pale, perspiration beading up on the stranger's forehead.
"You alright there John?" the man of Dero's absolute hatred asked, laying a hand on John's shoulder. John nodded before hurriedly pulling the deputy along to show him what fine gallows they had built.
"Dero." A soft feminine voice whispered causing Dero, Crap and Flux to jerk their heads towards the speaker. The lovely black haired woman raised a finger to her pale pink lips before uncorking the small jug she carried. Pouring the water over the bars, the metal began to vanish! Quick as a deer Prisha poured the magical water over Crap and Flux's bars.
Instantly all three men were out of their cages and running on silent feet to the three horses Prisha had waiting. Dero felt more than ever that he was going to vomit. This time it was from being so close to freedom. Flux hauled himself onto the first horse, Crap and Prisha on the second, Dero on the last.
As soon as he was settled Dero kicked his horse into a bolt wanting to escape as fast as possible.
We're almost free! Dero shouted in his mind a grin of ecstasy coming to his face. But a scream of agony was wrung from his lips as the deputy shot at the escaping "criminals"
Escaping into the night the four continued on at full tilt now spurred by Dero's fatal wound.
It was light when the ragged trio reached Prisha's grandfather's hut. Dero by this time was slouched low over his saddle enveloped in mind numbing pain. When Flux and Crap dismounted they immediately went to help Dero. Crap pulled Dero's feet from the stirrups before Flux grabbed the black haired man by the armpits and pulled the stout man from atop the horse. Putting Dero's arms around their shoulders the two men somewhat dragged him into the hut.
The black haired man was only faintly aware that he was lying on a bed of animal hides, struggling too hard to breathe to care. In a sudden moment of clarity Dero looked over and gazed at Prisha's grandfather with child-like fear and wonderment.
"Drink child." Grandfather coaxed lifting the earthen cup to Dero's parched and chapped lips. Taking a long swallow he nodded when he had received enough falling back against the hides quite heavily.
Only a few short seconds passed before suddenly Dero gave a primal scream of terror. Dero's eyes rolled wildly as he raised his shaking hands as if to ward something off.
"Nein, nein." He whimpered shaking his head from side to side. With a sudden gasp Dero bolted upright, propping himself with his right elbow, perspiration coating his skin.
"Flux!" he exclaimed looking to his two friends and falling partial onto his back in horror. Flux and Crap had bullet holes in the middle of their foreheads, thick streams of crimson blood running down their faces. Dero jerked his gaze to the right and there stood his worst enemy, the Deputy. With a face clean of emotion the deputy pulled the trigger.
"No!" Dero screamed bolting upright a bead of sweat running from his temple to his jaw. He looked towards Flux and Crap and felt himself go weak in relief when he saw they were unharmed. He sighed and collapsed back onto the hides dropping dead into sleep.
But suddenly it felt like someone was choking him leaving Dero open mouthed like a fish gasping for water. The man's nails bit into the flesh of his tender neck as he tried to pry the invisible grip off of him. Dero's nails and neck became quite bloody before Dero suddenly ripped his hand away from his neck, face twisted up in a silent scream. When he had no more air even for his silent scream he sucked in deep lungful's, freed from the choking.
Upon catching his breath Dero opened his eyes to see the two boys who lived with Prisha standing over him. Suddenly their skin began to crack and flake as if they were being horridly burned from the inside out.
"No, no, go away, you're not real." He sobbed shaking his head from side to side. The man coughed hard and long, a drop or two of blood landing on the floor. Again Dero struggled to breathe convulsing as his body tried to force the blood from his lungs. Gradually his breathing slowed until he took his last breath before welcoming the endless dark.

Dero opened his eyes to see Flux and Crap gone. Standing up he pushed open the door of the hut, stopping to yawn and stretch. When Dero opened his eyes from his yawn his chocolate brown eyes met his friends' two amazed gazes. A bewildered expression came to Dero as he saw what looked to be a grave. Looking to Prisha and the zwei boys he saw the same amazed look. Hesitantly he looked back to Crap and Flux
"Did I oversleep again?" Dero questioned.
