She lay on ground,

Blood seeping through her clothes,

She was alone,

Except for the mockingbird that sat upon the bench,

I took her hand in mine,

And prayed for the best,

But wept.

As her mind was swept away,

and her heart beat slowed in her chest,

I tried to help,

But nothing more could be done.

The mockingbird chirped then flew into the wind.

I was alone,

the word so empty and meaningless now,

Fear rolled in my mind,

as if gears in a machine, as I spoke the words aloud,

"Love was not meant for me."

Then her heart stopped,

and my love was dead.
