Not entirely sure what it's about...
And as hard as it may seem to believe from this, I am not a depressing person.

Do we not notice

that we scratch our skin too deep

we peel away the surface

and underneath we bleed.

And as for those dark moments

of my missing memory

you're not welcome to return

I'd rather make believe.

The deadly deadly grip

of our unwanted past

unwilling to let go of us

longing to pull us back.

Clawing for your future

you fight the super-strength glue

but constantly and ferociously

it holds its reign over you.

Like an ungodly Monarch

abusing its granted powers

starving their subjects

of their collective hours.

And this army of shadows

sewn to our souls

is walking in formation

every step it follows.

The footprints of these soldiers

scratch my skin too deep

they peel away my surface

and forever make me bleed.
