In a room full of people
Just a deadly murmur
A sideways glance
You look into my eyes
Seeing the fear,
The pain.

I don’t understand,
Why don’t you say a word?
Protect me
Be my shield against the rumours?
I thought you said,
I wish you’d said.
That you would.

But you never did.
It must’ve been in my head
I thought I heard the words
Escape your lips
It seems it was just me
A wish I once had

Just like that dream
The one you’ve always had
To be important
To change a life
To make a difference
You have

You’re making a difference
To me, in my life
Yet now
You’ve left me teary eyed
Standing in a room full of people
Feeling utterly alone
