Lady Lovedust (Dolls That Dream)

My hair is black, my skin is fair
My dress a princess-blue nightmare
The gold that shines hurts every eye
The livings’ beauty is a lie
Dolls that sing and dolls that cry
Dolls that bleed and dolls that die…

My smile is like a withered rose
That dust-dry skin is all I chose
To earn myself a look of morn
A silent quest to be forlorn
Dolls that sing and dolls that cry
Dolls that bleed and dolls that die…

Come now closer, sweet decay
There’s no time for us to pray
We need a perfect mask to wear
Make-believe in heaven’s care
Dolls that sing and dolls that cry
Dolls that bleed and dolls that die…

Do not smirch my silken glove
My crown was stolen by a dove
We are dolls, some old-worn toys
A child no longer wants to love
Dolls that sing and dolls that cry
Dolls that bleed and dolls that die
Dolls that dream a pointless dream
Dolls that long for high esteem
