The Ecstasy and the Melancholy
Well when words first had their dance between us,
my young heart was only too easily roped by the melody.
Eyes glowing anew and ears forever hearing the tune I was in the sky,
there was that rose and those doves, I walked among the diamonds next to Lucy.
And there suspended in the air I was taken, waiting to be hers,
but awaiting my affection's indulgence my tormented mind clipped the infant wings.
This adoration however reciprocal could never know the grace of cool night,
for with ink not tongue this love and language do I sing.
O, My Harley, My Billie, her embrace eluding without proper advance,
I was abandoned by the winds of ecstasy and cast into the sultry nature of melancholy.
