The warmth of the paved road
It burnt her skin; fried her body
An engine roared and approached
'Please be the one,' she prayed bawdy
She prayed for it all to be over
Prayed for the pain and tears to end
Death crept up on her closer and closer
Her heart's broken too much to mend
A suspicious man entered the store
She prayed for the man to have a gun
Could this be the great and final door?
Yearning and hoping, "please be the one"
But when death was at her door
Her heart slowly stopped beating
Her life flashed as she hit the floor
Slowly and painfully, her soul was fleeting
With what might just be her final breath
She whispered regretfully, "please, not yet"
