I woke up this morning and left my tears behind

I put a smile on my face and the kids on my mind

I combed their hair and washed their backs

I gave them their clothes and gave them their sacks

I gathered my thoughts and prepared for the day

I had no time to be sad today

I did as I do all of the time

Putting all of my heart ache and pain behind

I hid behind my graceful smile

Trying to make my day worth while

But there was a moment that tipped the burg

My throat closed up and my vision blurred

My smile went away and tears streamed down my face

The pain had struck me and took its place

I wiped them quickly and tried to hold back

But my strength failed and my determination lacked

I picked up my purse and took a deep breath

But as soon as I did my body just wept

All of those tears I had been trying to hold back

Came rolling down and made its attack

The pain had grabbed me and gave me a squeeze

It hurt so much I could not breathe

I fell to my knees and onto the ground

I cried and cried and let it all come out

How thankful I was that my kids were not home

If they had seen my pain and heard my groan

Their hearts would sink and wonder why

Their mother just lay there and cried
