Ghost
For how long shall I stand this
torment? There is a limit, that I
know only too well. As days slowly
drift by, so does our love.

So strained, it has become.

Is it me or is it you? Let me know
would you, who is to blame. Maybe
it is both of us, or maybe not. Does
stress emotion kill?

Inside, I feel dead. A lifeless being,
devoid of all sentiment. Energy diserted,
will abandoned. For what am I, but a
creature, made to function at your will.

Love, you are a cruel master. A lifetime
of devotion, I chose to serve. Now, it seems
too much. If not for me, then it must be for
you. So you have said.

Shake off the excess, if you must.
But before you do, let me know.
Was there ever a love as true
and fair as ours?

Wait, is that you I see? Senses
surely deceive, for it can’t be true.
I saw and stumbled. Too cruel a
vision, too real.

I can see how life to you bows,
your rich, earthy laugh, resounding,
shattering, impinging the reality
of it all.

I’m here and yet not quite.
My image flickers in your eyes,
yet you do not see. For you, yes,
you are very much alive.

While I, am but solely, a ghostly
apparition, dead to you, and the
rest of the world.
