A short poem describing a period of depression.

Never did I think I'd feel like this
Like the answer lies with the slit of the wrist
Like this pit of despair could be my home
Like I'm born to suffer and die alone.

A dark black shadow captures my mind
Covers my eyes and makes me blind
To all the light that comes my way
To all the words I cannot say.

Every day the ghosts reappear
To taunt me, keep me in this state of fear
To re-open wounds with the blade of a knife
I know they will haunt me all my life.
