I choose you.
Your shaggy hair and stupid grin.
Sat in the pound for so long.
I choose you.
You were bouncy. Hyper. Easily distracted. Difficult to train.
Not that I tried.
You appealed to a minor audience.
That ridiculously jumpy hound.
But I loved you no matter .
I played with you everyday.
Did you get bored?
We played different games.
When we could.
But you got bored of me.
Suddenly they liked you.
And I was the bad person.
Because I didn't want to play with you.
Because you bit me.
And it left a scar.
But you're not going anywhere.
So I have to learn to not be afraid.
Even though you bark at me now.
I don't know why.
Because I could have gotten rid of you.
But I didn't.
Please don't bark.
