SAVE  HUMANITY

Six billion people, most of them born into different cultures and societies following different religions and having different ways of thinking yet all of them have one thing in common-we all are  humans. Humanity is something we all relate with. Its the very element of our identity that defines our collective belonging. But today as humanity steps into the era of emphatic progress, where world peace and prosperity are the loud captioned and red-labelled goals of world organisations, that pertinent question might be what is the need that has raised alarm bells of saving humanity. The wounds that bleed humanity today are all out in the open-war, religious rites, poverty, starvation and diseases. The roots of the darker side of this much hyped brighter world lie in sheer human selfishness and narrow mindedness of its goals.

The Palestinian conflict ,political clash of China and other Asian countries like Vietnam, phillipines,India,Indonesia in the south china sea over national interests of acquiring resources and strategic goals are all live examples of humans fighting among themselves for dominance either for their community, religion or nation. These poeple are all inspired by causes that are born out of the narrow confines of smaller goals insignificant to the prosperity of the larger humanity. As is put by Martin Luther King Jr. - "An individual has not started living untill he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity".As we celebrate glories after glories of achievements of the man-satellite launches, new findings of mars rovers, launches of new phones and operating systems, one could definelty ask as to how significant these glories are to the millions of poor in African countries like Uganda,Eithopia,Zambia and many others who die of starvation everyday and whose livelihoods have been sold to war lords. Neither does it change the fact that every third African does not have enough food. The US and the European powers may go on making nuclear weapons for national interests of peace and make policies of economic reforms but the ugly truth of their hypocrisy sits naked in such hellholes of misery. The irony rests in the very ideology of "weapons for peace" which most countries today adopt. The viscous race for political might, for resources, for survival all impart a direction to our existence-an apocalypse for humanity.

Few might say that the sun for humanity is already setting but the horizon is afterall ours to paint with. The colours of blood and pain, and of peace and prosperity are the colours of two very different shades and only when the powerful and the frail both realize it well,we can set the course of setting sun to bring the dawn for humanity. We humans have a potential to rise beyond the miseries which hold us back from venturing into the broader sky of peaceful co-existence.
