Dear lone wolf, I remember you,

But you faded into history.

Noone remembers how you sang to the sky

When the world chose not to listen.

Unlike your cousins, little dogs,

You lived in a pack with your family.

Dogs will whimper when others come near,

But you would stand and fight for glory.

They are the remnants of what you once were--

Beautiful, powerful, strong.

A solo voice raised above the millions.

Now you are hunted, poached, and endangered--

Pushed to the brink of extinction.

They hold you captive,

As playthings to look at,

But even so, you are lovely.

From the oldest wolf to the youngest pup,

Your majesty is still showing.

May you someday return to the land of the wilderness.
