Showery memories

My school bag got wet,

My shoeshine faded,

Rain vanished all its newness.

The roads are now muddy,

My best-loved play ground

is now a swampy lawn.

After the first day of my new school year

I complained to my dearest grandma,

From the next week of my school,

I used to forget about all my belongings,

I lost my bottles, boxes even my schoolbag once!

The scoldings I got for it made me always cry.

But I still -

Jumped in mud,

splashed rain water,

Miss my books, tiffin boxes and bottles

All these

Childhood memories

passed over as

I crossed the pages of my

fifth grade notebook.

I grew older..

Time went over..

Now I wished to hop over my muddy backyard

Dart like a disobedient schoolboy

Enjoy the the earthly petrichor..

But I knew I couldn't,

I gasped, took a sip of hot gourmet coffee,

Now I work in a closed-paced glass cubicle-

Of a tall building..

Everything here is artificial,

The Cool air from the Air Conditioner,

The fragrance of the room freshner,

Pleasing Smile of my colleagues...
