I can feel her warmth, preserved in my arms. I wrap my arms around her. I can feel her breathing against my embrace, her breath soft and gentle. I bring her closer to my body, making her soft skin touch my rough hide. Our hands gently touch. Her fingers grown across my palm and then locks in with mine, closing our hands together like a clam. I slowly raise our hands together to my mouth over her shoulder. I bring my face close to the hands and kiss mine alone.

The warmth leaves me, her presence gone. All I hold within my embrace is my body only. A cold frown grows upon my face as the rain falls from my closed eyes. I clench my fist, wishing that I was dreaming. I wipe away the rain and open my raw eyes, looking down to her. My wife that was buried six feet under me, with a tombstone to match. I kneel down and begin to pray for her warmth to return, words of promises and swears to the god that took her from me.
