The night is so dark, the darkness so stark I can’t see a thing, not even a mark Now my eyes unavailing, could lead me no more So I stand all alone, waiting, what’s in stare

But soon I could see, what was unseen to me Lives teeming all about in a living spree If you look quite close you might see a hare here Crouching not far behind a hawk is there

Leaves moving aside, creatures running to hide When a flying squirrel just happened to glide Birds and animals, all crawlies and creepies Some are buried in the earth, some dozing on trees

The hooting of an owl, with a never ending scowl Scares me to death when a pack of wolves howl But they are up on the hills at the other end of wood That was too far away from where I now stood

So I stick to the ground and try to look around But before I could find anything, I was only found My daddy came running, took me back to the camp So I’m here writing my feelings under the glow of my lamp.
