I am going to a review over the novel I read If I Stay by: Gayle Forman and here is the summary to the novel...

In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...

A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

So I'm going to tell you why I did or didn't enjoy this novel.

The book If I Stay, begging has a very quick fast pace intro that makes the reader interested and curious to read more about the main character Mia who got in a car crash and then left her body to figure out if she will be able to live.  I love how Mia is an outcast in her family.  The begging is what makes me keep on reading but as I get deeper into the book I begin to find less interest in it and here’s why...

Mia’s dad use to be in a band when he was younger but when Mia was a kid he changed and became a college professor.  I enjoy his charter and how he acts.  Now the mom on the other hand I find her behavior inappropriate and annoying.  The book is all in one day and of past memories which makes it kind of boring but in one of the memories when Mia was a little kid at the mall and her mom was with her, she was cursing randomly.  It’s wrong to cuss in front of kids but I can understand why the mother talks like that since she use to be a band chick but still.

Now for Mia’s bad boy boyfriend Adam I found him a poor match for Mia since she is suppose to be very opposite of her family and she goes off and dates a guy like her family.  But I found it stupid that after a month of dating him after he had dinner with her family they went up stairs and had sex while her parents were downstairs well aware of what was going on.  Which for them they found that their daughter have sex this boy was sweet, to me thats bazaar.

So as the book continued I began to dislike it more and more. Some reasons why I disliked it was because one it seemed all of the adults had sex before marriage.  They cursed a lot in the novel.  Finally I hated the boyfriend and how she acted around him.

Things I did like about the novel was the Mia’s best friend Kim, the singer Brooke Vega I found her enjoyable in the novel, and I liked how she broke up with Adam but sadly there is a second book where they get back together called Where She Went.

For people who love Twilight by Stephenie Meyer don’t listen to what it says on the cover it because you will not enjoy this novel.  Also I talked to people who have read this and all say they found it weird and stopped reading it after a few chapters.  So overall I would rate this novel 2 ½ stars.  Hope this helped you figure out whether or not you want to read it.
