 Lost Time

The time had come for goodbyes

Neither one of us wanting to do so

We tried to stall

But time does not stop

The goodbye had to happen now

No longer could it be denied or delayed

In a last embrace we shared

Neither one of us wanting to let go

Time was against us

We ran out of excuses to stay

Letting go of him was near impossible

My arms were now empty

We had said our goodbyes

Alone at last I cried

Knowing there would be no future hello
