This was written by a good friend of mine who had been battling her own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. She lost that battle, and I'm publishing this in her honor.

A tiny voice, barely a whisper, calls out. No one can hear it’s pitiful cries. It cries for acknowledgement, relief, happiness, and peace. It cries for grief, anger, pain, and fear. As it grows louder and bolder, it cries for more. For love, for freedom, for chains, for shackles. And as it grows louder still, it becomes more and more desperate. Still, no one can hear the tiny voice. But it grows stronger, louder, more powerful, with its cries louder than thunder, sharper than lightning, and mightier than the storm itself.

Then all is silent. All is still. The tiny voice cries no more. No one notices its absence. It was as if the tiny voice had never existed.
