This is a short poem that I wrote for my 4 year old son after he came up with the name Overmick Station at nursery school for a pretend underground station.

Overmick Station

At Overmick Station there’s a sign outside,

Saying “Free trips today, so come for a ride!”

Inside Overmick Station the ticket man smiles,

“The train’s on the platform just through the turnstiles.

It’s leaving quite soon so hurry along.

It’s going to London via Hong Kong.”

The guard blows his whistle and off the train goes

But there’s nobody driving it. How it works no-one knows.

At Overmick Station strange things never end

And the best thing about Overmick’s is it’s all just pretend.
