As I walk down the halls

Of my late classes held,

I wonder have I missed it all

Or was there something else to foretell?

Did I miss the social season,

Or the dances and the games

The romance, that bears no final reason

That bears no last blame?

I wonder if I wasted my time here

In the high school that I’ve known

That is something that I do fear

But how will I know?

I remember my friends

And the pranks we pulled all year,

The rules that we bend,

And the lessons we hold dear.

So maybe all was not lost

It was not what I thought

I did pay the cost

But it won’t be forgot.

So as I walk by

The classes that were held

I can hold my head up high

And give my last farewell.
