Little butterfly playing in the flowers

Petals tickling her tiny wings

While the sun shines for hours

Beautiful butterfly the sun makes you glow

High into the sky you fly

Hide in the grass so low

Fluttering in the tulips

Beauty enhanced by the rose

Delighting in the wonderful scent

With her little tiny nose

Hiding from larger predators

Camoflauged amongst the leaves

Or she would skip along the rooftop

Playing in the eaves

Her wings were multicolored

As big as they could grow

Like tiny rainbow ballerinas

Dancing in the snow

People would stop and admire

This rather magnificient thing

As she flew around their heads

Tickling their skin with her wings

Children would laugh

As she went wizzing by

Thinking they had seen a fairy

With their innocent little eyes

The beautiful butterfly

Wouldn't live to long

But there will always be more butterflies

To make us smile when things go wrong
