they screamed and cried
we sat there and watched them slowely die
knowing they only had a few more moments
right there on the clock
crawling around down there in that pitch black pit
never once did they throw a fit
working down there side by side
they became close and great friends
just having that little miners light
to guide them through the darkness
let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
everything just seems so colorless
they hoped and prayed everday
just please let us make ito out alive
they knew everything all to well
what could happen down there working and living in hell
after so long down there in the mine
only one things is always on your mind
are we gonna make it out alive
well some of the time they dont
who knows if we will be next
but instead of stoping we keep going at it
exploding the large rocks
working father down to that coal
be for we let it off we yell fire in the hole
warning all of the ones below
we use that coal miner talk
always remembering to keep digging for that coal
the whole mine just might blow
exploding killing us all
then we are all gone
thats for sure
we come home and walk in the door
covered in that coal dust
not knowing whats going on
down there in that mine
the next shift of miners working in that hell hole
how were we supposed to know
a couple of hours of rest
then were on our way back
God please watch our backs
we didnt know that it was gonna give
we didnt know that we would never make it home again
no more family and friends
but yet we still pray
time and time again
God please just please send us home safe once again
