So baby cry me a river
And throw me a line
There's a wall built between us
And I'm dying on the other side

Because you made this place amazing
This little City By The Sea
And I swear it's driving me crazy
The thought of the man I'll never be.

You were lightning in my bottle
I was thunder in your hand
The rain was liquid distance
between the skies and sand

This storm won't last forever
just like that longing in your eyes
And when I hear you say "I love you"
I die a bit inside

Sometimes I swear to God, your voice  brings me to tears
But we've been waiting out this storm for far too many years

So baby build me a tower
Give me a sign
Draw me a map
To every love I'll never find

Because you made my life amazing
In this City By The Sea
And understand I'm going crazy
because you're leaving without me

So burn every bridge we've ever built
And leave me to live with this guilt

Remind me of what what use to be
between me and you
And wrack me with these fits
of pain long since overdue

Because baby you're amazing
Unlike this City By The Sea
So please carry on without me
And this man I'll never be
