You wore a halo over your head

a shimmering light

I watched your figure form out of sheer darkness

You handed me summer flowers

blinding and bright in their beauty

I lost my vision in the poisonous fragrance

Their venom swirled and shaped into a prison

the new luster of the green leaves faded to a muted mud

I turned them into a bed of death for us

with new eyes I saw you for the first time

a dark figure out of darkness

you held out to me a winter branch of thorns and still I hold them, bleeding and bruised
