Author's note: This poem was posted years ago. I decided to change the format and cover art, but keep everything else the same for old times' sake.

Original description: A poem of love and loyalty.

You Are

You are the starlight that reaches my skin

In the midst of the moonless night

You are the sword that strikes within

The memory of a fight

You are the hand that held on to mine

In the midst of fear and dread

You are the only memory

I’ll remember in my head

You are the angel of my past

That has come to rescue me

You are the song sung by the lark

That set my spirit free

You are the tender kiss of the rain

The lullaby of the stars

You are the reason I still believe

The rhythm in my heart

You are the light that will always appear

In front of my wandering soul

You are the whisper that I tend to hear

The voice that can drown out all

You are the life force given to me

When I’m all but cold and dead

You are the only truth that I know

You are all I can ever have

Thanks for the comment. This poem actually started as a song, with the stanzas as different options for the chorus. I couldn't pick one out from them so I decided to combine them in a poem instead. (n_n)

Quite beautiful. Haunting in a way, but completely beautiful. =D

While I found the flow to be interrupted here and there the piece as a whole is wonderfully written. I read it once then read it twice, even gave it a read aloud. Very well done.

Thank you very much! This is supposed to be a lullaby, so that's probably why the flow is so stilted, lol. The end of every second line is sustained at different lengths depending on the note they're sung with. :)

I wish we could all have someone like this by our side. Those who have it, you are really lucky. Those who haven't, maybe one day they will be there. Great poem. I enjoyed it.
