Nyx, dear goddess, I long for your grace.

To feel your warm touch, your loving embrace.

I am tired and worn from this endless race.

Please let me stop, or at least slow my pace!

Let your feathery fingers glide down my face,

and whisk me away on a night wind, far from this place!

Quick, let us go, let us make chase!

We will chase our freedom, but just in case

with me I bring a large deadly mace.

I bring this in the fear that, just in case,

I lose my way, and fail at the chase.

For if I fail, and never leave this place,

your fingers will I never feel upon my face!

Never will I slow my pace,

and never will I win or stop this endless race.

And then, oh I fear, I feel your warming embrace

willleave me at once, along with your grace.
